We use a combination of both in-house staff and sub-contractors to do our installations. Competitors may look to cast doubt on this approach, insisting that in-house installers are somehow superior to sub-contractors, but the reality is this is simply not true. It all comes down to the quality of the work that the installer performs and the quality of standards that the solar provider enforces. Also, keep in mind that when someone is highly skilled and experienced in their trade, they often prefer to own and operate their own business, rather than be an employee. This is why subcontracting is a wonderful option, allowing us to have the best of both worlds. Cheap solar components are notorious for a number of reasons. First, in order to keep the costs so low, manufacturers need to cut corners, using cheaper parts and flimsy warranties. All solar components are made overseas. Typically, cheaper brands will have no Australian presence, making a warranty claim incredibly difficult, and every likelihood that a loophole will enable your warranty claim to be rejected. In the end, with solar, you really do get what you pay for.
